The 'Hanging'

Sounds dreadful doesn't it? But I'm talking about getting all my work out of the house and up onto the gallery walls!! Which is actually a great feeling and is what I spent most of yesterday doing along with the five other artists who make up the 'Original 6' exhibition I am currently a part of (it opened today). My spot in the gallery is tucked away to one side, like a mini-room and I'm really glad that I managed to get this area. With everyone elses work being in acrylics and oils I was concerned that my works on paper would look washed out if placed right next-door to the other works on show. But having them set up in this alcove allows them to shine and also creates a 'quiet spot' in the gallery where people can pause, take a breath and view the work in an unobtrusive way. There are some photo's below of my area after it was hung and if you would like to read a little bit more about the day, you can do so here.

I also added this information to the exhibition blog as I wanted to make people aware that they can buy artwork prior to the opening night! It may sound a bit forward of me to advertise like that but I'll never forget a collector who told me how she always missed out on buying the pieces she really wanted as she didn't get in early enough (before opening night) to ensure their purchase. And with that she said she wanted the painting I was just putting the last touches on so she wouldn't miss out on buying it :) I'll never forget her smile as I said it was all hers - it was the first large watercolour I had ever attempted (this one here) and I was glad that the person in question bought it as I felt it was going to a good home.

Hi Jay Dee :)

Your work is just beautiful...lovely shading. I have also left a comment on your 'Original 6' Blog - what a wonderful collaboration of works and artists. Enjoy your exhibition, and good luck :) Wish I was able to attend.

Gorgeous! I still think it looked better on our lounge room floor. Stew and I would host another viewing anytime... That's if they're not all sold all ready! X

Georgi! You and Stew were absolute Gems with the impromptu viewing :) and you are both now official 'critiquers' for any future work! Expect more of this in the next couple of months!!
